Matted Pets
Tight matting can cause severe discomfort in your pet. It can cause brusing, reduced circulation, and in extreme cases tissue necrosis. Shaving is always the most humane solution. Removal of these mats may cause skin irritation, and obsessive itching from increased blood flow to previously matted areas. Always watch for excessive scratching and headshaking to prevent injury to your newly shaved pet. Spaw Collective and its independent LLC’s are not liable for any adverse reaction (ex: hematoma) caused by a matted shave down.
Shaving Double Coats
Shaving double coated breeds can irreversibly damage the coat. The double coat is designed to insulate your pet from both hot and cold weather and shaving only makes the shed hairs small and sharp. Undercoat management is the best way to keep that insulation working properly and reduce shedding. If you decide to shave your double coated dog, we recommend daily brushing to limit possible damging effects to the coat.
Ear Plucking
Plucking the ears unnecessarily can cause swelling, irritation, and micro-tears which provide a habitat for infection causing bacteria to grow. We will only pluck ears if you have previously discussed it with your veterinarian and request at drop off. Spaw Collective and its independent LLC’s are not liable for any.
